Registration will begin February 1, 2024. Priority registration will be given to existing families until March 1, 2024. Class tuition and fees for the 2024-2025 year include a non-refundable registration fee of $50 (or $70 for a family) and $450 for the year, which can be paid monthly in ten payments of $45.
Class size is limited to twelve students per class. Once a class is full, I will place students on a waitlist. No registration fees are deposited until you are certain you have a spot in the class.
If you are interested in any course, please complete a registration form and send it to me with your registration fee. Keep in mind that I do not reserve a spot for a student unless I have a completed registration form and a registration fee.
Courses will meet at my home in Geneva. For families who are a bit further away, carpooling may be an option. I also have 20 acres, a porch, and a separate “study” area if you would like to stay during class.

Beginning IEW Year 1 – Tuesdays 11:00-12:45 New students grades 5-7 or instructor permission
This beginning course takes students new to IEW through the basic structural units, while introducing stylistic techniques incrementally. The foundational material will be IEW’s Structure and Style for Students year 1, with supplemental lessons to round out the year. Students need to purchase is the student book, video DVD or streaming is optional. Grammar will be the Fix-it Grammar program by Pamela White. (Fix-it 2: Town Mouse and Country Mouse)
Beginning IEW Year 2 (LIVE CLASS)- Tuesdays 1:15-3:00pm Pre-requisite: 1 year of IEW or instructor permission For students grade 5-7, or new students 7-8.
This course takes students continues the skills introduced in Beginning Year. Students will work through the IEW structural units with a bit more sophistication, while introducing stylistic techniques incrementally. The foundational material will be IEW’s Structure and Style for Students year 2A, with supplemental lessons to round out the year. Students need to purchase is the student book; videos/streaming is optional purchase that is helpful if you miss a class. Grammar will be the Fix-it Grammar program by Pamela White. Intermediate IEW Year 1: Students grades 7-9 – Suitable for students new to IEW (especially in grades 8 or 9) This course takes students through the nine structural units, with emphasis on essay writing, all while deepening skills using the various stylistic techniques. The foundational material will be IEW’s Structure and Style for Students year 1B, with supplemental lessons to round out the year. Students need to purchase only the student book; video DVDs or streaming are available for purchase if you tend to miss class often. Grammar will be the Fix-it Grammar program by Pamela White. (Fix-it 4: Mowgli and Shere Khan) All submitted work must be typed.

Honors English A – Intro to Literature: Thursdays 10:30-12:15. (Grades 9-12 or instructor permission) Prior IEW experience required. Building on the skills from earlier IEW courses, this course provides an in-depth introduction to literary analysis and writing skills using the book Windows to the World by Lesha Meyers. Students will learn the key elements of literature and the techniques used by authors to accomplish great writing. In the process, students will develop critical thinking and analysis skills and then organize their analysis into well-constructed essays. Students will apply these skills first to short stories and then to three novels over the course of the year. All submitted work must be typed.
